Anthropic launches Claude Dashboards and Motion to replace your data analyst

Claude now builds live data dashboards and editable animated videos from simple text prompts. The standalone chatbot era is over.

What happened

Anthropic just launched two massive beta features for Claude. Dashboards connects directly to your company data and builds auto-updating live charts from plain English prompts. Motion turns text, charts, and product walkthroughs into animated explainer videos you can export directly as MP4s. Dashboards is available for paid users. Motion is restricted to Team and Enterprise plans.

Dashboards integrates with major data platforms like Snowflake, Salesforce, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, and ClickHouse. It solves the AI trust problem by showing the exact SQL query behind every single number. You can verify the math instantly. Users can also pipe these results into external tools like Amplitude, Grafana, and Hex. Support for Looker, Tableau, and monday.com is coming soon.

Motion takes a completely different approach to video. It skips generative video models entirely. Instead, Claude writes the animation as editable code. This means no fake AI faces and no weird visual artifacts. You can edit every frame, word, shape, and timing. Anthropic also moved its Docs, Slides, and Design tools out of beta. They are now available to everyone, including free users. The company notes users have already created over 45 million documents. Meanwhile, standalone Claude Design will fold into the main app and shut down on December 14.

Key facts

Why it matters

We are watching the death of the standalone AI chatbot. AI is moving directly into the core enterprise workflow. You no longer need to export raw data to Excel or hire a junior analyst to build a weekly reporting dashboard. You just ask Claude. Because the AI explicitly shows its work with underlying queries, founders and executives can actually trust the numbers. This bridges the gap between experimental AI and production-grade business intelligence.

Motion changes the game for product marketing and internal communications. Generating editable code instead of pixel-based video is a massive structural advantage. It means zero hallucinations and total control over the final output. You get precise control over your explainer videos without needing complex editing software. This puts serious pressure on traditional business intelligence tools and basic video creation platforms. AI is no longer just drafting emails. It is doing the heavy lifting of data analysis and design.

For builders

Build trust with transparent data queries

Dashboards exposes the exact SQL query behind every metric and chart. Builders can finally deploy AI analytics to enterprise clients who refuse to trust black-box AI math. You win enterprise contracts by offering verifiable truth instead of opaque AI guesses.

Automate product marketing videos

Motion generates animations as code, not raw video. Founders can instantly turn release notes or boring reports into MP4 product walkthroughs. You save thousands on agency fees and weeks of editing time while keeping total control over the final product.

Migrate standalone design projects immediately

Standalone Claude Design shuts down completely on December 14. Chats, comments, and public links from the standalone version will disappear permanently. Engineering teams must migrate their design systems through the Artifacts page before the deadline or lose their work entirely.

My take

Anthropic is quietly building the ultimate AI coworker while everyone else argues about theoretical superintelligence. Choosing to generate code instead of video for animations is a brilliant, practical move that solves real business problems. This is exactly how you build AI products that enterprise companies actually want to pay for.
